After defeating Notre Dame 35-27 in one of its best games of the season, the Eagles will go head to head with Serra, another tough opponent this Friday. What makes the stakes even higher for this game is the fact that it is Chaminade’s homecoming and a win would be a nice way to start off the weekend. However, Serra is a very physical team that is hoping to ruin Chaminade’s plans. Ranked 13th in the state, Serra relies on its quarterback, Jalen Greene, to spark the offense, as he can both run and throw the ball. In this young season, he has already thrown for 10 touchdowns and rushed for almost 300 yards.
What is most impressive about this Serra team is its defense. Allowing only about 15 points per game, the Serra defense is designed to pressure the quarterback and force him to make bad decisions. The defense averages 2 sacks a game and has three interceptions, so the Eagles offense needs to be aware of this potent defensive attack. Coming off of a great victory, Chaminade hopes it can defeat Serra for the first time in twenty years and surge to a 1-0 start in league play.
